Your space background is excellently well done, considering the use of colored pencils. I had a rather difficult time doing this with my piece, which was primarily done with colored pencils, and opted to using a free digital image of a nebula as a result. What brand of pencils did you use?

As far as the composition of the piece went, well done! I like how you took liberty to add a bit of detail to the Rogue Star. Additionally, the captain (girl with pink hair, sorry forogt her name) is very well drawnand colored, portraying the personality of the character.
I also like your lighting effects. They are mastefully executing and believable.

I appreciate the compliments on my submission for this challenge and greatly apologize it has taken me so long to respond. Once December rolled around I just got kind of busy. I use prismacolor's for nearly everything I do. When I first started my journey as an artist I stuck primarily to graphite sketches and vary little water color and acrylic painting. As I grew and started learning more about color theory I decided to try my hand at photo realism which has been an amazing process and helpe me be able to achieve what you see in the piece above. Any questions you might possibly have I would be happy to help and maybe explain more on the thought process behind it. I'm participating in the January challenge for the new resolution if you would like to see more art from me.

This 100% totally deserved to win the November Cotm, as held by Jazza over on Youtube. Congratulations!!!

Fantastic composition. I especially am fond of the slightly dirty/gritty look the whole piece has; it reminds me a lot of a 60/70's sci-fi paperback novel cover art. Well balanced characters and objects lend good symmetry and all lighting effects are superbly executed.

Thank you so much! that was the plan . I like the first Star Wars cover from the seventies .

Fantastic submission. Great depth and excellent shading.
Love the humor in the end.

Lefvaid responds:

Thank you! I saw you're participating too, good luck!

Damn, only two days? Dat paint skillz, brah! Beautiful work! It has a very classic space opera poster feel to it. (This doesn't mean I think it is unoriginal, just classic.)

I like how Riot is looking sidelong at Atlas; great bit of character lore there. And I chuckled at the "Coming" date. :)

ParadoxArt responds:

Thanks Venger :D! Yeah i tried to make this a poster for season 2 with out giving too much spoilers for anyone interesting in watching the video series.

I'm sure the original version looked awesome, but I'm rather in love with this submission regardless!

Excellent sense of scale, and character posture, positioning and balance throughout the piece.

Sarcolea responds:

thank you :)

This piece has a great sense of scale; it feels big. Physically big and ominously big.
The psuedo-realism style is fantastic, and the color palette definitely has a perfect Sci-fi feel. Absoultely amazing piece. Well done!

LuwyRock responds:

Thank you so much for your words VengerVoldur!! I loved drawing several characters at once in this challenge. Good luck with your work! Greetings from Argentina!

First impression: Jaw dropping "WOW!!!"

Second impression, and future criticism doesn't get any more elaborate than this unfortunately. Sorry, I'm too busy being blown away by the awesomeness of this to be very constructive.

Neutronboar responds:

Best comment I ever got. :) My gratitude, sir

Wow, this was done with colored pencils? Amazing! Never would have guessed it (maybe on the background sky). Very compelling piece, and interesting color palette.

IrmaZwart responds:

Thanks! Yes I wanted to do something differten and experiment a bit.
I see your work is still in progress, good luck with it!

Very cool piece. A different layout style than others submitted, with a simple arrangement. I quite like. A top 10 of my favorite piece submitted this month.

How was this piece composed? is it all traditional medium or with digital ones?

imac27 responds:

thank you I appreciate the comment. I hand drew it. and painted it with water color.

The depth of focus, as executed by the Rogue Star flying towards the viewer, was an excellent decision. It adds a great sense of dimension to the piece. Otherwise, solid compositon. Better than mine, in my opinion. ;)

Roxedo responds:

Thank you so much i really do appreciate it, i saw your work, never underestimate yourself my friend, it's coming along good ;)
